Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-25-320-052 Remove the Worn Nuts (01-030)

      1. Machine off the flared part of the worn nuts.

      1. Use electrical hand drill, diameter of drill 0.27in. (6.80 mm).

        Damages at the chamfers, the bore and the faces of the outer diffuser support assembly are not permitted.

        Refer to Figure.

      2. Hit lightly the remainder of the nut shaft to remove it from the outer diffuser support assembly.

      1. Use pin punch with diameter 0.29in. (7.50 mm).

    2. SUBTASK 72-50-25-220-072 Examine the Outer Diffuser Support Assembly (01-010) for Damage

      1. Examine the inner diameter of the hole for damage.

      1. Fine scratches are permitted.

        Remove raised material.

        Refer to Figure.

        Use needle file and stones.

    3. SUBTASK 72-50-25-350-055 Install the New Nuts (01-030)

      1. Install the hollow sections of the new nuts in to the holes.

      1. Make sure that the shoulders of the nuts are installed so that the nuts cannot rotate.

        Refer to Figure.

      2. Flare over the location diameter of the nuts.

      1. Use rivet setting equipment.

        Axial movement of the nut up to maximum 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) is permitted.

    4. SUBTASK 72-50-25-220-073 Do the Post Repair Inspection

      1. Examine the installed nuts for cracks visually.

      1. No cracks are permitted.

        Use illuminated comparator magnifier.

      2. Examine the nuts for correct installation.

      1. The flare must be formed symmetrically without broken or rough edges.

        Use illuminated comparator magnifier.

      3. Examine the installed nuts dimensionally.

      1. Axial movement of the nuts up to maximum 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) is permitted.
