Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-32-350-055 General Instructions for the Blend Repair of the Shroud Notch Radius Cracks of the Stage 7 Turbine Blades

      1. Blend the cracks on the shroud notches of the stage 7 turbine blades.

      1. Use files and stones to remove the cracks.

      2. Polish the blended areas.

      1. Use fine stones to make the blended surface as smooth as the initial surface. Edges and corners are not permitted.

    2. SUBTASK 72-50-32-350-056 Blend Repair the Shroud Notch Radius Cracks of the Stage 7 Turbine Blades

      NOTE

      Do not change the shroud angles or other shroud dimension by blend repair.
      Keep the removal of material to the minimum necessary to remove the damage.
      Refer to Figure and Figure or Figure and Figure when you do the blend repair. Only one option can be applied to one notch radius.
      Do not use rotating handtools.

      1. Blend repair the shroud notches.

      1. Refer to Figure and Fig. 72-50-32-019-002or Fig. 72-50-32-990-020-001 and Figure for the maximum permitted depth of the blend repairs.

    3. SUBTASK 72-50-32-230-058 Examine the Shroud Notch of the Stage 7 Turbine Blades for Cracks

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        No cracks are permitted.

    4. SUBTASK 72-50-32-220-088 Do the Post Repair Inspection

      1. Examine the surface finish.

      1. Use illuminated comparator magnifier.

        The surface finish of all repairs must be as good as the adjacent areas.

      2. Examine the blend repaired areas dimensionally.

      1. Use dial caliper and radius gage set to measure the blended areas.

        The limits are given in Figure and Figure or Figure and Figure.
