Refer to Figure.
Keep the removal of material to the minimum necessary to remove the damage.
Machine the flange outer diameter. Remove all damage and wear. The outer diameter must be within 0.9385 and 0.9287 in. (23.839 and 23.590 mm) after the removal of the damage.
SUBTASK 72-50-51-320-053 Machine the Flange Outer Diameter of the Oil Jet
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.
No cracks are permitted.
Do the fluorescent penetrant inspection for cracks
SUBTASK 72-50-51-230-054 Examine the Oil Jet
Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-01-300-503.
Do the vapor degreasing
SUBTASK 72-50-51-110-059 Remove the Grease from the Oil Jet
Refer to Figure.
Mask the areas of the oil jet not to be plated.
Plate to sufficient thickness to permit the machining to last dimensions indicated in the reference figure.
The plating out of the closed area is permitted but must be removed.
Do the nickel plating.
Remove the mask.
Flush with cold water.
Flush with hot water.
Dry with air blast.
Clean and dry the oil jet.
SUBTASK 72-50-51-330-051 Nickel Plate the Flange Outer Diameter of the Oil Jet
Do this procedure as soon as possible but in 4 hours after the plating.
Put the oil jet into a furnace at 266 to 302 deg F (130 to 150 deg C) for 12 hours.
SUBTASK 72-50-51-370-051 De-embrittle the Oil Jet
No circumferential cracks are permitted.
No rough and blistering are permitted.
Plating must have a constant color.
Do the visual inspection of the plating for finish, cracks and adhesion
SUBTASK 72-50-51-220-053 Examine the Oil Jet
Refer to Figure.
Clean up the edges of groove and chamfer, where necessary.
Machine the flange outer diameter. The last dimensions of the outer diameter must be between 0.9406 and 0.9397 in. (23.890 and 23.869 mm).
SUBTASK 72-50-51-320-054 Machine the Flange Outer Diameter of the Oil Jet
Use a 4X magnifying glass.
The natural network crack, emphasized by grinding, is permitted.
Do the visual inspection of the plated area for cracks and adhesion.
Measure the thickness of the plating. Do not accept thickness less than 0.0006 in. (0.0150 mm) after the last machining.
SUBTASK 72-50-51-220-054 Examine the Nickel Plated Area
Remove metal lifted by marking.
Vibro engrave 'VRS5008' adjacent to the part number.
