Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-350-126 Cut the Oil Feed Tube

    2. Refer to: Figure

    3. Slide the oil feed tube toward the outer wall of the turbine exhaust case.

      1. Cut the outer oil feed tube flange at the existing welding line.

      2. Use hand tools.

    4. Remove the tube from the interior of the casing.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-350-127 Lap the Bearing Compartment Flange

      1. Lap the area of the bearing compartment flange which mates with the oil feed tube flange.

      2. Surface finish must be 32 microin. (0.8 micron).

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-310-070 Weld the New Tube

    2. Refer to: Figure

    3. Place the new tube in position inside the strut.

      1. Attach the tube to the bearing compartment flange.

      2. Make sure that a clearance of 0.08in. (2 mm) exist between the tube and the strut heatshield cover.

        Adjust the tube if necessary.

    4. Put the outer flange in the correct position.

      1. Tack weld the components.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-02-310-501.

Use CoMat 03-286 WELDING WIRE dia 0.05in. (1.2 mm).

      1. Complete weld the components.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-02-310-501.

Use CoMat 03-286 WELDING WIRE dia 0.05in. (1.2 mm).

        Electrode

        2% thoriated tungsten

        Electrode dia

        0.1in. (2.54 mm)

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-220-209 Inspect the Welding Area

      1. Inspect the weld.

      2. Inspect the weld for a good penetration.

Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

Weld again the areas where the weld condition is not satisfactory.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-780-052 Pressure Leak Check the Assembled Tube

    2. Do a pressure leak check of oil feed tube as follows:

    3. Install the IAE 2F10183 Fixture to the oil feed tube.

    4. Connect the hydraulic test pump to the adapter on the outer oil feed tube flange.

    5. Apply oil pressure to the tube. Open the purge valve to bleed off the air. When all the air is vented from the system, close the purge valve and tighten.

    6. Apply an oil pressure of 370 psig (2400 KPa). Hold the pressure for at least 1 minute.

    7. Release the pressure, disconnect the pump and remove the fixture.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-350-128 Record the Repair

      1. Vibro engrave 'VRS5390' adjacent to the part number.

      2. Remove the metal lifted by marking.
