Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-350-082 Remove the Damaged Bushing in the Turbine Exhaust Case,or

    1. Refer to: Figure and Fig. 72-50-53-990-097

      2. Remove the damaged bushing.

    2. SUBTASK 72-50-53-320-081 Machine the Bushing Bore in the Turbine Exhaust Case,or

    1. Refer to: Figure and Fig. 72-50-53-990-097

      2. Machine the bushing bore.

      1. Refer to table at Figure for the dimensions after the removal of the damage keep the removal of material to the minimum necessary to remove damage. Use grinding machine.

    3. SUBTASK 72-50-53-230-077 Examine the Turbine Exhaust Case

      1. Do the fluorescent penetrant inspection for cracks.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        No cracks permitted.

    4. SUBTASK 72-50-53-350-083 Install the Bushing

      WARNING

      DO NOT TOUCH THE HOT PARTS WITHOUT PROTECTIVE GLOVES.
      HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE REDDENING AND BLISTERING OF THE SKIN IF THE HANDS ARE NOT PROTECTED.
      IMMERSE THE CONTACTED AREA IN COLD WATER FOR 10 MINUTES IF THE SKIN IS BURNED. IMMEDIATELY GET THE MEDICAL ATTENTION IF PAIN OR BLISTERING PERSISTS.

      CAUTION

      INSTALL BUSHING IN MACHINED BORE IMMEDIATELY AFTER REMOVAL FROM FREEZER; OTHERWISE BUSHING CANNOT BE CORRECTLY INSTALLED.

    1. Refer to: Figure and Fig. 72-50-53-990-097

    2. Install the bushing on the IAE 1F10202 Slide, Hammer 1 off.

    3. Increase the temperature of the case and/or decrease the temperature of the assembled bushing/slide.

    4. Use an hot air gun.

      Increase the temperature of the case to 176 deg F (80 deg C).

      Degrease the temperature of the assembled bushing/fixture -30 deg F (-20 deg C).

    5. Remove the bushing from the freezer.

    6. Use protective gloves.

    7. Install the bushing into machined bore.

    9. Allow the parts to reach ambient temperature.

    10. Remove the hammer slide.

    5. SUBTASK 72-50-53-350-084 Record the Repair

      1. Vibro engrave VRS5394 adjacent to the part number.

      1. Remove the metal lifted by marking.

        Use vibrating marking pencil.
