WARNING
ADEQUATE PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT IS NECESSARY DURING LEAK CHECK.
CAUTION
METAL TO METAL CONTACT MUST BE PREVENTED TO MAKE SURE THE TURBINE EXHAUST CASE ASSEMBLY IS NOT DAMAGED.Locally fabricate tooling (Blank off plates) to seal the No. 5 Bearing Compartment.
Install the nipple, PN 2A2175 and new packing, PN AS3209-014 to the pressure port on the exhaust case housing. Torque the nipple between 110 lbfin - 120 lbfin (12.428 Nm - 13.558 Nm).
Install the adapter, PN 50P186 and a new packing, PN AS3209-015 to the scavenge port on the exhaust case housing. Torque the adapter to 150 lbfin - 170 lbfin (16.948 Nm - 19.207 Nm).
Apply a small quantity of engine oil to rubber seal on Blank off plates.
Install Blank off plates to seal the No. 5 Bearing Compartment, use suitable caps to seal the adapter/nipple openings.
Slowly introduce a pressure of 26 psig - 24 psig (179 Kpa - 165 Kpa) into the compartment.
When the pressure is stabilized in the test range, hold 25 psi (172 Kpa) level for 10 minutes while applying leak-tek.
Apply leak-tek to the surrounding areas of the No. 5 Bearing Compartment and look for signs of leakage.
Record and report results and contact IAE Technical Services.
