General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-00-540-051 Remove the Applicable Gearbox Module Records from the Shipping Container

    1. Open the shipping container as specified in the card, part of the shipping container.

    2. Remove the PVC sheet from the internal pocket of the shipping container.

    3. Remove the gearbox module log book and log card from the PVC sheet.

    2. SUBTASK 72-60-00-540-052 Remove the Desiccant from the Shipping Container

    1. Remove the instruction card from the shipping container.

    2. Remove the desiccant from the shipping container.

    3. SUBTASK 72-60-00-540-053 Move the External Gearbox from the Shipping Container to the Storage Stand

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      2. Prepare IAE 5F10048 Gearbox handling adapter 1 off for lifting of the gearbox.

      1. Fully release, but not remove, the four bolts which attach the shipping adapter to the support of the shipping container.

      2. Remove the two hexagon nuts from the eyebolt. Remove the eyebolt from the storage hole for shipment.

      3. Install the eyebolt in to the hole for gearbox lifting at position D. Attach with the two hexagon nuts.

    3. Attach a crane to the top of the eyebolt. Lift the gearbox from the shipping container.

    4. Move the gearbox on IAE 1F10021 Storage stand 1 off.

      5. Install the external gearbox to the storage stand.

      1. Install IAE 1F10011 Handling fixture 2 off on the ground handling bosses on the bottom of the gearbox.

      2. Slowly lower the gearbox on the storage stand.

      3. Align the two handling fixtures with the holes of IAE 1F10023 Gearbox adapter 1 off on the storage stand. Align the angle gearbox with the angle gearbox support of the gearbox adapter.

      4. Continue to lower the gearbox until the two handling fixtures are fully in to the holes of the gearbox adapter.

      5. Make sure that the angle gearbox is correctly installed on the angle gearbox support between the two locking rods.

      6. Install the two safety pins to the handling fixtures.

      7. Put the two locking rods in position on the bosses of the angle gearbox. Tighten the rotating block.

    4. SUBTASK 72-60-00-540-054 Remove the Shipping Adapter from the External Gearbox

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Disconnect the bracket at position A and the link at position B from the front lugs.

      1. Remove the bolts which attach the two pins to the front lugs.

      2. Remove the two pins from the bushings and the spherical bearings by hand.

      3. Disconnect the link from the rear lugs in position C.

      1. Remove the pin securing bolt and the washer which attach the pin to the lug.

      2. Remove the pin from the bushings of the lugs and the spherical bearing of the link by hand.

    4. NOTE

      Remove the transportation fittings only before the installation of the accessories on the external gearbox.

      Lift the shipping adapter from the external gearbox.

    5. SUBTASK 72-60-00-540-055 Install the Shipping Adapter in to the Shipping Container

    1. Move the shipping adapter on the container.

    2. Slowly lower the shipping adapter in to the shipping container.

    3. Align the four bolts of the shipping adapter with the threaded holes on the support of the shipping container.

    4. Continue to lower the gearbox until the bolts are fully engaged in to the threaded holes. Tighten the four bolts.

    5. Remove the crane from the top of the eyebolt.

    6. Remove the two hexagon nuts from the eyebolt. Remove the eyebolt and install it in to the storage hole for shipment. Attach the eyebolt with the two hexagon nuts.

    7. Close the shipping container as specified in the card, part of the shipping container.
