General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Apply the approved CoMat 10-058 PENETRATING OIL before the removal of threaded parts and parts with an interference fit. Let the parts soak before removal.

Discard all rubber seal rings, cotter pins and seal washers removed in this procedure.

Remove and discard the lockwire before parts are disconnected or removed.

Transportation covers/blanks must be installed immediately after the removal of the components.

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-040-051 Remove the Oil Drain Plugs from the Front Side of the Main Gearbox Case

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the oil drain plug from the main gearbox case.

      2. Remove the oil drain plug from the seat below the mounting flange of the hydraulic pump. Discard the packing.

      3. Release and remove the insert. Discard the packing.

      1. Remove the oil drain plug from the oil tank.

      2. Remove the oil drain plug from the seat below the mounting flange of the oil pressure pump. Discard the packing.

      3. Remove the two nuts which attach the insert to the main gearbox case. Remove the insert and discard the packing.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-040-052 Remove the Oil Input Adapters from the Rear side of the Main Gearbox Case

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the oil input adapter from the seat on the left hand of the mounting flange of the angle gearbox support.

      2. Remove the two nuts which attach the input adapter to the gearbox casing.

      3. Remove the oil input adapter and discard the packing.

      1. Remove the oil input adapter from the seat on the right hand of the mounting flange of the angle gearbox support.

      2. Remove the two nuts which attach the oil input adapter to the gearbox casing.

      3. Remove the oil input adapter and discard the packing.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-040-053 Remove the Oil Drain Plugs from the Rear Side of the Main Gearbox Case

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the oil drain plug from the fuel pump drive pad.

      2. Remove the oil drain plug and discard the packing.

      3. Release and remove the insert from the main gearbox case. Discard the packing.

      1. Remove the oil drain plug from the seat below the mounting flange of the IDGS.

      2. Remove the oil drain plug and discard the packing.

      3. Release and remove the insert from the main gearbox case. Discard the packing.
