General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Apply the approved CoMat 10-058 PENETRATING OIL before the removal of threaded parts and parts with an interference fit. Let the parts soak before removal.

Discard all rubber seal rings, cotter pins and seal washers removed in this procedure.

NOTE

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

NOTE

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-24-040-051 Remove the Two Inner Races of the Roller Bearings from the Gearshaft

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Put IAE 1F10244 Half ring 2 off around and below the inner race of the roller bearing on the external splined end of the gearshaft.

    3. Install the half rings and the gearshaft on IAE 1F10200 Base 1 off with the external splined end to the top.

    4. Install IAE 1F10236 Drift 1 off in to the ID of the gearshaft. Push the drift until the gearshaft is fully removed from the inner race of the roller bearing. Use arbor press or equivalent.

    5. Remove the drift. Remove the half rings and the gearshaft from the base.

    6. Turn the gearshaft. Put IAE 1F10245 Half ring 2 off around and below the inner race of the remaining roller bearing.

    7. Install the half rings and the gearshaft on the base with the external splined end to the bottom.

    8. Install IAE 1F10237 Drift 1 off in to the ID of the gearshaft. Push the drift until the gearshaft is fully removed from the inner race of the roller bearing. Use the arbor press or equivalent.

    9. Remove the drift. Remove the half rings and the gearshaft from the base.

    2. SUBTASK 72-60-24-040-052 Remove the Outer Race of the Roller Bearing from the PMA Drive Housing

    1. Install the PMA drive housing on IAE 1F10164 Base 1 off. Install the bolts which attach the PMA drive housing to the base. Tighten the bolts.

    2. Remove the three nuts which attach the outer race of the roller bearing to the PMA drive housing.

    3. Remove the outer race of the roller bearing from the PMA drive housing. Use IAE 1F10159 Puller 1 off.

    4. Remove the bolts which attach the PMA drive housing on the base. Remove the PMA drive housing from the base.
