Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-24-320-052 Machine the Mounting Face of the PMA Support

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine the mounting face.

      2. The preplating dimensions must be between 1.1366 in. to 1.1339 in. (28.870 mm to 28.800 mm) in relation to surface C.

      3. Remove all damage and wear. Keep the removal of material to the minimum necessary to remove the damage.

      4. Deleted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-24-230-053 Examine the Support

      1. Do the fluorescent penetrant inspection for cracks.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

      3. Cracks are not permitted.

      4. Use FPI inspection station.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-24-330-052 Nickel Plate the Mounting Face of the PMA Support

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Mask areas of the support not to be plated.

      1. Do the nickel plating.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-33-08-300-503.

      3. Plate to a sufficient thickness to permit the machining to the last dimensions. The plating out of the mounting face area is permitted but must be removed.

      4. Use process plating tanks.

    3. Remove the mask.

      1. Clean and dry the support.

      2. Flush with cold water.

      3. Flush with hot water.

      4. Dry with air blast.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-24-370-051 De-embrittle the Support

      1. Put the support into oven at 241 deg F to 260 deg F (116 deg C to 127 deg C) for 60 to 90 minutes.

      2. Do this procedure as soon as possible in less than 4 hours after the plating.

      1. Visually examine the plating for finish, cracks and adhesion.

      2. Plating must have a constant color. Circumferential cracks are not permitted. Rough and blistered areas are not permitted.

      1. Machine the mounting face.

      2. The dimensions must be 1.1456 in. to 1.1378 in. (29.100 mm to 28.900 mm) in relation to surface C.

      3. Chamfer where necessary.

      4. Use grinding machine.

      1. Visually examine the plated area for cracks and adhesion.

      2. Use a 5x magnifying glass.

      3. The natural network crack, emphasized by grinding, permitted.

      1. Measure the thickness of the plating.

      2. Do not accept a thickness less than 0.0006 in. (0.015 mm) after the last machining.

      1. Vibro engrave VRS5076 adjacent to the part number.

      2. Use vibrating marking pencil.

      3. Remove the metal lifted by marking.
