General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Apply the approved CoMat 10-058 PENETRATING OIL before the removal of the threaded parts and parts with an interference fit. Let the parts soak before removal.

Discard all rubber seal rings, cotter pins and seal washers removed in this procedure.

NOTE

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

NOTE

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-040-051 Remove the Lock Washer and the Segment from the Nut Washer

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Install the deoiler gear drive and impeller on IAE 1F10211 Base 1 off with the impeller to the top. Attach the gear teeth to the base with the clamp.

      3. Install IAE 1F10220 Puller 1 off on the lock washer.

      1. Open the levers of the puller.

      2. Put the adapter in to the ID of the gearshaft.

      3. Turn the pusher clockwise to engage the levers with the tabs of the lock washer.

    4. Turn the lead screw of the puller clockwise until the lock washer is fully removed from the nut washer.

    5. Remove the puller with the lock washer from the gearshaft. Open the levers and remove the lock washer from the puller.

    6. Remove the segment from the lock washer.

    2. SUBTASK 72-60-29-040-052 Remove the Nut Washer from the Deoiler Gear Drive

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Align the lugs of IAE 1F10210 Wrench 1 off with the slots of the nut washer. Install the wrench on the nut washer.

    3. Turn the wrench counterclockwise until the nut washer is fully removed from the gearshaft. Use standard wrench.

    4. Remove the wrench. Remove the nut washer from the gearshaft.

    3. SUBTASK 72-60-29-040-053 Remove the Impeller from the Deoiler Gear Drive

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Install IAE 1F10252 Puller 1 off on the flange of the impeller.

      1. Remove the sliding sleeve from the half rings.

      2. Loosen the shoulder screw and open the half rings.

      3. Put the adapter in to the ID of the deoiler gear.

      4. Close the half rings. Make sure that the jaws of the half rings are correctly engaged in to the groove of the impeller flange.

      5. Install the sliding sleeve around the half rings.

      6. Tighten the shoulder screw.

    3. CAUTION

      DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FIN OF THE SEAL DURING THE REMOVAL OF THE IMPELLER.

      Turn the lead screw of the puller clockwise until the impeller is fully removed from the gearshaft.

    4. Remove the puller with the impeller from the gearshaft.

      5. Remove the puller from the impeller.

      1. Remove the sliding sleeve from the half rings.

      2. Loosen the shoulder screw. Open the half rings and remove the puller from the impeller.

    6. Release the clamp of the base. Remove the deoiler gear drive from the base.

    4. SUBTASK 72-60-29-040-054 Remove the Deoiler Gear Drive from the Deoiler Housing

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Remove the nuts which attach the ball bearing to the deoiler housing.

      1. Install IAE 1F10195 Base 1 off on swivel vise.

      2. Install the deoiler housing with the deoiler gear on the base with the gear teeth to the bottom. Attach with the socket head capscrews.

      3. Turn the base until the gear teeth is to the top. Remove the nuts which attach the ball bearing to the deoiler housing.

      4. Remove the deoiler housing with the deoiler gear from the base.

    3. Put IAE 1F10254 Half ring 2 off around the deoiler gear and below the ball bearing on the deoiler housing.

    4. Install the half rings and the deoiler gear on IAE 1F10200 Base 1 off with the gear teeth to the bottom.

    5. Install IAE 1F10253 Drift 1 off in to the ID of the deoiler gear. Push the drift until the deoiler gear is fully removed from the ball bearing on the deoiler housing. Use arbor press or equivalent.

    6. Remove the drift. Remove the half rings, the deoiler housing and the deoiler gear from the base.

    5. SUBTASK 72-60-29-040-055 Remove the Ball Bearing from the Deoiler Housing

    1. Refer to Figure

    2. Install the deoiler housing on IAE 1F10256 Base 1 off with the ball bearing to the top.

    3. Remove the ball bearing from the deoiler housing. Use IAE 1F10255 Puller 1 off.

    4. Remove the deoiler housing from the base.

    6. SUBTASK 72-60-29-040-056 Remove the Inner Race of the Roller Bearing from the Deoiler Gear

    1. Refer to Figure

    2. Put IAE 1F10243 Half ring 2 off around and below the inner race of the roller bearing.

    3. Install the half rings and the deoiler gear on IAE 1F10200 Base 1 off with the inner race of the roller bearing to the top.

    4. Install IAE 1F10238 Drift 1 off in to the ID of the deoiler gear. Push the drift until the deoiler gear is fully removed from the inner race of the roller bearing. Use arbor press or equivalent.

    5. Remove the drift. Remove the half rings and the deoiler gear from the base.
