TASK 72-60-29-440-001 Deoiler Gear, Impeller, And Housing Assembly - Assemble The Gear, Impeller, And Housing, Assembly-001

General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.

For standard torque data and procedures, refer to the SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501 and TASK 70-41-02-400-501.

Special torque data and assembly tolerances are included in the procedure.

Lubricate all threads and abutment faces of nuts and bolts with CoMat 10-039 ENGINE OIL, unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.

To identify, lubricate and install seal rings, refer to the SPM TASK 70-44-01-400-501.

After assembly apply CoMat 07-012 AIR DRYING ENAMEL to any damaged surface protection, joint flanges and attach parts. Use the correct color of the air drying enamel. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-06-380-501 .

The number of each radial location must be identified in a clockwise direction. These start at the engine top position when you look from the rear of the engine, unless stated differently in the procedure.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-440-051 Install the Inner Race of the Roller Bearing on the Deoiler Gear

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Put IAE 1F10258 Half ring 2 off around the mounting diameter of the ball bearing and below the shoulder of the deoiler gear.

    4. Install the half rings and the deoiler gear on IAE 1F10200 Base 1 off with the gear teeth to the top.

    5. Put the inner race of the roller bearing in to oven and increase the temperature to 250 deg F (121 deg C) maximum.

    6. WARNING

      DO NOT TOUCH THE HOT PARTS WITHOUT PROTECTIVE GLOVES.
      HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE REDDENING AND BLISTERING OF THE SKIN IF THE HANDS ARE NOT PROTECTED.
      IMMERSE THE CONTACTED AREA IN COLD WATER FOR 10 MINUTES IF THE SKIN IS BURNED. IMMEDIATELY GET THE MEDICAL ATTENTION IF PAIN OR BLISTERING PERSISTS.

      Put the inner race of the roller bearing on the guide bush of IAE 1F10189 Drift 1 off.

    7. Put the guide bush of the drift in to the ID of the deoiler gear.

    8. Push the drift until the inner race of the roller bearing touch the shoulder of the deoiler gear. Use arbor press or equivalent. Apply a load of 2248 lbf (10000 N).

    9. Remove the drift from the deoiler gear.

    10. Let the inner race of the roller bearing get to the room temperature. Make sure the inner race of the roller bearing is correctly installed to the deoiler gear.

    11. Remove the deoiler gear from the base.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-440-052 Install the Ball Bearing on the Deoiler Housing

    2. Install the deoiler housing on IAE 1F10240 Base 1 off. Install the bolts which attach the deoiler housing on the base. Tighten the bolts.

    3. Install the ball bearing on the deoiler housing. Use IAE 1F10239 Drift 1 off. If this is not easy go to operation C.

    4. WARNING

      DO NOT TOUCH THE HOT PARTS WITHOUT PROTECTIVE GLOVES.
      HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE REDDENING AND BLISTERING OF THE SKIN IF THE HANDS ARE NOT PROTECTED.
      IMMERSE THE CONTACTED AREA IN COLD WATER FOR 10 MINUTES IF THE SKIN IS BURNED. IMMEDIATELY GET THE MEDICAL ATTENTION IF PAIN OR BLISTERING PERSISTS.

      If operation B is not easy, locally increase the temperature of the bearing housing to 250 deg F (121 deg C) maximum. Use hot air gun.

    5. Install the nuts which attach the ball bearing on the deoiler housing. Torque to 85 lbfin to 95 lbfin (9.604 Nm to 10.734 Nm).

    6. Remove the bolts which attach the deoiler housing to the base. Remove the deoiler housing from the base.

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Install the deoiler gear on IAE 1F10199 Base 1 off with the roller bearing to the bottom. Put the adapter of the base in to the ID of the deoiler gear.

    4. Put the deoiler housing with the ball bearing in to oven and increase the temperature to 250 deg F (121 deg C) maximum.

    5. WARNING

      DO NOT TOUCH THE HOT PARTS WITHOUT PROTECTIVE GLOVES.
      HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE REDDENING AND BLISTERING OF THE SKIN IF THE HANDS ARE NOT PROTECTED.
      IMMERSE THE CONTACTED AREA IN COLD WATER FOR 10 MINUTES IF THE SKIN IS BURNED. IMMEDIATELY GET THE MEDICAL ATTENTION IF PAIN OR BLISTERING PERSISTS.

      Put the deoiler housing with the ball bearing to the bottom on the guide bush of IAE 1F10196 Drift 1 off.

    6. Put the guide bush of the drift on the deoiler gear.

    7. Push the drift until the ball bearing touch the shoulder of the gearshaft. Use arbor press or equivalent. Apply a load of 1574 lbf (7000N).

    8. Remove the drift from the deoiler gear.

    9. Let the ball bearing get to the room temperature. Make sure the ball bearing is correctly installed on the deoiler gear.

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. CAUTION

      DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FIN OF THE SEAL DURING THE INSTALLATION OF THE IMPELLER.

      Align the two grooves on the ID of the impeller with the guide pin on the deoiler gear. Install the impeller on the deoiler gear with the seal to the bottom.

    4. Put IAE 1F10209 Drift 1 off on the impeller with the guide pusher of the drift in to the ID of the deoiler gear.

    5. Push the drift until the flange of the impeller touch the inner race of the ball bearing. Use arbor press or equivalent.

    6. Remove the drift from the deoiler gear.

    7. Install standard nut on the deoiler drive gear to hold the impeller in position. Use standard wrench.

    8. Remove the deoiler drive gear and impeller from the base.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-440-055 Install the Nut Washer on the Deoiler Gear Drive

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Install the deoiler drive gear and impeller on IAE 1F10211 Base 1 off with the impeller to the top. Attach the gear teeth to the base with the clamp.

    4. Remove the standard nut from the gearshaft. Use standard wrench.

    5. Put the nut washer on the gearshaft. Tighten the nut washer as far as it can be tightened by hand.

    6. Align the lugs of IAE 1F10210 Wrench 1 off with the slots of the nut washer. Install the wrench on the nut washer.

    7. Turn the wrench clockwise and torque to 700 to 800 lbfin (80 to 100 Nm). Use the standard wrench.

    8. Remove the wrench from the deoiler gear.

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Install the slide of IAE 1F10219 Pusher 1 off on the nut washer.

    4. Put the segment in to the groove of the lock washer.

    5. Put the lock washer and the segment in to the ID of the slide with the segment to the top.

    6. Put the pusher on the lock washer. Push the pusher until the lock washer and the segment are fully installed in to the slots of the nut washer.

    7. Remove the pusher and the slide from the nut washer.

    8. Release the clamp of the base. Remove the deoiler gear drive and impeller from the base.
