General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Apply the approved CoMat 10-058 PENETRATING OIL before the removal of the threaded parts and parts with an interference fit. Let the parts soak before removal.

Discard all rubber seal rings, cotter pins and seal washers removed in this procedure.

NOTE

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

NOTE

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-31-040-051 Remove the Strainer and the Plug from the Deoiler Case

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Install IAE 1F10228 Base 1 off on swivel vise.

    3. Install the deoiler case on the base. Attach with the socket head capscrews.

    4. Remove the lockwire from the plug. Remove the plug from the seat on the deoiler case. Discard the packing.

    5. Turn the base until the strainer is to the top.

    6. Remove the strainer from the seat on the deoiler case.

    7. Remove the deoiler case from the base.

    2. SUBTASK 72-60-31-040-052 Remove the Carbon Seal from the Seal Housing

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Install the seal housing on the base of IAE 1F10068 Pusher 1 off with the carbon face to the bottom.

    3. Install the pusher on the carbon seal.

    4. Push the pusher until the carbon seal is fully removed from the seal housing.

    5. Remove the pusher from the seal housing and remove the seal housing from the base.
