Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-320-051 Mill the Lock Ring

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Install the removal tool in drill press chuck.

      2. Lower drill press above stud shank before starting motor.

        Use SM101-18 Removal tool 1 off for lock ring 01-340, 01-600.

        Use SM111-20 Removal tool 1 off for lock ring 01-420.

        Cut off stud if too long for the removal tool.

        Keep sufficient shank length to give pilot for the removal tool.

      1. Mill through lock ring to remove serration interlock.

      2. Lift tool frequently to permit the cutting teeth to be clear from chips.

        It is not necessary to mill fully through the lock ring.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-350-053 Remove the Stud

      1. Apply the removal torque to the stud.

      2. Continuous pressure of withdrawn stud should cause lock ring to be forced out from its location.

        Break with a punch and remove the remaining portion of lock ring if it has been milled fully through and it does not lift out with the stud.

    2. Complete the removal of the stud.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-350-054 Install the New Stud

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Lubricate the coarse threaded stud end.

      2. Start stud into housing.

      1. Install the stud.

      2. The depth is given in Figure.

        Stud must be perpendicular to flat surface of relevant flange within 0.014 in. (0.35 mm) each 4 in. (101.60 mm).

        Use R1105W Wrench 1 off for stud 01-360, 01-400, 01-620.

        Use R1106W Wrench 1 off for stud 01-440.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-350-055 Install the Lock Ring

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Install the new lock ring.

      2. Align the external serrations of the new lock ring with those in parent material of the housing.

      1. Seat the new lock ring.

      2. Seat the new lock ring to depth given in Figure.

        Use S101D12 Drive tool 1 off for lock ring 01-340, 01-600.

        Use S111D12 Drive tool 1 off for lock ring 01-420.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-330-053 Restore the Damaged Anodic Treatment

      1. Check the surface.

      2. Do the touch up process if the anodic treatment has been damaged by stud installation.

        Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-230-052 Crack Test the Repaired Area

      1. Do a crack test on the repaired area.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.
