TASK 73-22-15-990-401 P3/T3 Sensor - Related Parts - Description And Operation Of The P3/T3 Sensor
Description
The P3/T3 sensor measures the air temperature and the pressure of the engine in the diffuser case. The P3/T3 sensor has a chromel and an alumel thermocouple which measure the temperature. These thermocouples have encapsulated and ungrounded junctions for quick operation when the temperature changes. The static port of the sensor measures the engine pressure.
The thermocouple output is directly related to the temperature difference between the two junctions. This causes the thermocouple to accurately measure temperatures.
The thermocouple has two junctions in a protective housing. There are four terminal studs on the stud box. Two studs are alumel and two are chromel. Refer to Figure.
Operation
The thermocouple is attached to the diffuser case and measures burner temperature at that location.
The P3/T3 sensor has two devices which measure temperature. They send a low voltage to a device which monitors temperature through the stud box and a harness. The voltage is a measure of the temperature.
