Description

  1. TASK 75-24-49-990-501 Description And Operation - LPT Active Clearance Control (ACC) System, Description-001

    1. Description

The function of the LP Turbine Active Clearance Control System is to provide an optimum turbine blade clearance which gives a performance improvement during climb and cruise.

The LP Turbine Active Clearance Control (LPT ACC) manifold is installed around the LP turbine. With the supports it is fixed to the LP turbine case. The LPT ACC manifold has eight tubes. They have many holes in direction on to the LP turbine case.

The LPT ACC duct connects the LPT ACC manifold with the HP/LP ACC valve. It makes an air passage between the HP/LP ACC valve and the LPT ACC manifold. Refer to Figure, Figure, and Figure.

The LPT ACC manifold has the subsequent primary parts:

      The tube connector

The upper LPT ACC cooling air manifold

The lower LPT ACC cooling air manifold

      The two support assemblies A

      The four support assemblies B

    2. Operation

Air goes from the HP/LP ACC valve through the LPT ACC duct and through the tube connector in to the two duct assembly supports. From there the air is distributed to the eight tubes. The air bleeds through the holes of the tubes on to the LP turbine case surface to cool the case.
