Use Electric hand drill, diameter of drill 0.27 in. (6.80 mm).
Damage at chamfer, the bore and faces of the connector tube are not permitted.
Refer to Figure.
Machine off the flared part of the worn nuts.
Use pin punch with diameter 0.29 in. (7.50 mm).
Hit lightly the remainder of the nut shaft to remove it from the connector tube.
SUBTASK 75-24-49-040-082 Remove the Worn Nuts (01-455) of the Connector Tube (01-010)
Fine scratches are permitted.
Remove raised material.
Refer to Figure.
Use needle fine stones.
Examine the inner diameter of the hole for damage.
SUBTASK 75-24-49-220-144 Examine the Connector Tube (01-010) for Damage
Make sure that the shoulder of the nuts are installed so that the nuts cannot rotate.
Refer to Figure.
Install the hollow section of the new nuts in to the holes.
Axial movement of the nuts up to a maximum 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) is permitted.
Flare over the locations diameter of the nut.
SUBTASK 75-24-49-440-085 Install the New Nuts (01-455)
No cracks are permitted. Use Illuminated comparator magnifier.
Examine the installed nuts for cracks visually.
The flare must be formed symmetrically without broken or rough edges.
Examine the nuts for correct installation.
Axial movement of the nuts up to maximum 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) is permitted.
Examine the installed nuts dimensionally.
