Description

  1. TASK 77-21-15-990-401 EGT Thermocouple - Related Parts - Description And Operation Of The EGT Thermocouple

    1. Description

The EGT thermocouple is a component of the engine, mounted on the Turbine Exhaust Case. It measures the exhaust gas temperature at this position. The unit consists of the two independent type K outputs, each output being the average of three elements at three different immersion depths. Electrical connections to the thermocouple probe are made by means of four terminal studs: two studs are of nickel chromium and two are of nickel aluminum Refer to

    2. Operation

The thermocouple converts heat energy from the engine exhaust gases into electrical signals which are used to indicate and control the engine exhaust gas temperature.

When the junctions of the elements are heated, the millivolt output will be proportional to the average temperature of the junctions.
