Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 79-22-41-350-054 Blend Repair the Drive Gear Assembly (01-180) Surfaces

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Blend the gear tip of the tooth area at location 1

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.

      3. The maximum permitted blend length is 0.060 in. (1.50 mm).

      4. The maximum permitted blend depth is 0.012 in. (0.30 mm).

      5. Do not blend more than 50 percent of each tooth tip.

      6. Do not blend one tooth after the other tooth in the same circumferential area

      1. Blend the face surface of the gear tooth at location 2

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.

      3. The maximum permitted blend depth is 0.002 in. (0.05 mm).

      4. The maximum permitted damaged area on each tooth is 10 percent of the face surface.

      1. Hand polish and blend the damage on the end surface at location 3

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.

      3. A 40 microinches (1 micrometer) is necessary.

      4. Reject the gear if the chips or nicks cannot be fully removed

      1. Hand hone the damage on the bush journals at location 4

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.

      3. A 4 microinches (0.1 micrometer) is necessary.
