All test pressures referred to in the text are gauge pressure.

The scavenge oil tubes must be cleaned and inspected before this pressure test, refer to Cleaning-000 TASK 79-22-48-100-100 and Inspection-000 TASK 79-22-48-200-100.

NOTE

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.
Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 79-22-48-780-051 Prepare the Oil Scavenge Tubes (79-22-48,01-110), (79-22-48,02-110), (79- 22-48,03-100), (79-22-48,04-100) and (79-22-48,05-500) for the Hydraulic Pressure Test

    1. Install the IAE 2F10400 Leak test, adapter 1 off and IAE 2F10401 Leak test, adapter 1 off to the tube (79-22-48,01-110).

    2. Install the IAE 2F10396 Leak test, adapter 1 off and IAE 2F10397 Leak test, adapter 1 off to the tube (79-22-48,02-110).

    3. Install the IAE 2F10400 Leak test, adapter and IAE 2F10401 Leak test, adapter to the tube (79-22-48,03-100).

    4. Install the IAE 2F10398 Leak test, adapter 1 off and IAE 2F10399 Leak test, adapter 1 off to the tube (79-22-48,04-100).

    5. Install the IAE 2F10400 Leak test, adapter and IAE 2F10401 Leak test, adapter to the tube (79-22-48,05-500).

    2. SUBTASK 79-22-48-780-052 Do the Hydraulic Pressure Test on the Oil Scavenge Tubes (01-110, 02-110, 03-100, 04-100 and 05-500)

      WARNING

      MAKE SURE THAT APPROVED SAFETY GUARDS ARE IN POSITION AROUND THE TUBE WHEN YOU APPLY HYDRAULIC PRESSURE.
      DO NOT GET ENGINE OIL ON YOUR SKIN, IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES. ENGINE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND IN TO YOUR BODY. FLUSH ENGINE OIL FROM YOUR EYES, MOUTH OR SKIN WITH WATER. GET MEDICAL AID IF YOU GET ENGINE OIL IN YOUR EYES OR MOUTH.

    1. Connect the Hydraulic pressure testing rig to the leak test adapters on the tube.

    2. Open the bleed valve and apply a low hydraulic pressure to bleed the air from the tube. Close the bleed valve when you see a fluid flow free of air.

    3. Increase the pressure in the tube to 71 psi (490 KPa).

    4. Let the pressure stay in the tube for a minimum of three minutes.

    5. Examine the tube for signs of leakage, particularly at welded or repaired areas. If the tube has leaks, reject the tube.

    6. Decrease the pressure in the tube to zero.

    8. Disconnect the tube from the outlet of the Hydraulic pressure testing rig and the bleed valve adapter.

    9. Remove the leak test adapters 2 off from the tube.

    3. SUBTASK 79-22-48-110-051 Clean the Oil Scavenge Tubes (01-110, 02-110, 03-100, 04-100 and 05-500)

    1. Clean the tubes. Refer to Cleaning-000 TASK 79-22-48-100-100.
