General

Fig/Item numbers in parenthesis in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/Item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/Item number.

Apply the approved CoMat 10-058 PENETRATING OIL before the removal of threaded parts and parts with an interference fit. Let the parts soak before removal.

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 71-00-02-020-037 Remove the Forward Latch-Open Indicator

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the two upper bolts FORWARD OPEN LATCH INDICATOR-THRUST REVERSER (71-00-23, 01-020) and washers FORWARD OPEN LATCH INDICATOR-THRUST REVERSER (71-00-23, 01-030) and the two lower bolts that attach the latch-open indicator FORWARD OPEN LATCH INDICATOR-THRUST REVERSER (71-00-23, 01-010) mounting bracket to the fan case.

    3. Remove the latch-open indicator FORWARD OPEN LATCH INDICATOR-THRUST REVERSER (71-00-23, 01-010).

    4. Reinstall the two lower bolts to hold the channel to the fan case framework. Torque the bolts to between 85 and 105 lbf.in (10 and 12 Nm).

    2. SUBTASK 71-00-02-020-038 Remove the Open Latch Indicator (Pre SBE 72-0435 and SBE 72-0435)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the two bolts and the two washers (at the top position) which attach the open latch indicator to the No. 6 strut fairing panel.

    3. Pre SBE 72-0435: Remove two of the three bolts, washers and nuts which attach the open latch indicator to the No. 6 strut fairing panel/panel support bracket (at the bottom position). Remove the open latch indicator and the two shims.

    4. SBE 72-0435: There are only two bolts, washers and nuts which attach the open latch indicator to the No. 6 strut fairing panel/panel support bracket (at the bottom position).

    5. Attach the No. 6 strut fairing panel to the panel support bracket with the two bolts, the two washers and the two nuts (removed in step B). Tighten the two nuts.
