Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-320-057 Machine the Rear Snap Diameter of the Support

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine the rear snap diameter.

      2. The snap diameter must be between 6.3358 and 6.3307 in. (160.930 and 160.800 mm) after the removal of the damage. Remove all damage and wear. Keep the removal of material to the minimum necessary to remove the damage.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-230-056 Examine the Support

      1. Do the fluorescent penetrant inspection for cracks.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

      3. No cracks are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-330-057 Nickel Plate the Rear Snap Diameter of the Support

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Mask the areas of the support not to be plated.

      1. Do the nickel plating.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-33-08-300-503.

      3. Plate to a thickness to permit machining to the last dimensions.

      4. The plating out of the snap diameter is permitted but must be removed.

    3. Remove the mask.

      1. Clean and dry the support.

      2. Flush with cold water.

      3. Flush with hot water.

      4. Dry with air blast.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-370-053 De-embrittle the Support

      1. Put the support into the oven at 241 to 260 deg F (116 to 127 deg C) for 60 to 90 minutes.

      2. Do this procedure in less than 4 hours after the plating.

      1. Do the visual inspection of the plating for finish, cracks and adhesion.

      2. Plating must have a constant color.

      3. No circumferential cracks are permitted.

      4. No roughness and blisters are permitted.

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine the snap diameter.

      2. The last dimension of the snap diameter must be between 6.3386 and 6.3370in. (161.000 and 160.960 mm).

      3. Clean the edges of the groove and chamfer where necessary.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-220-076 Examine the Nickel Plated Area

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Do the visual inspection of the plated area for cracks and adhesion.

      2. The natural network of crack, made more apparent by grinding, is permitted.

      1. Measure the thickness of the plating.

      2. Do not accept thickness less than 0.0006 in. (0.015 mm) after the last machining.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-350-063 Record the Repair

      1. Vibro engrave VRS5117 adjacent to the part number.

      2. Remove the metal lifted by marking.
