CAUTION

IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT FOLLOW, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN BE THE RESULT.

Procedure

    1. Procedure After Engine Surge or Stall, Testing-000

      1. Procedure

        1. If there is an engine surge or stall and EGT is usual, do the steps which follow.

        2. Quickly and immediately move the thrust lever to IDLE.

        3. Operate the engine for five minutes at MIN IDLE (monitor the EGT)and continue usual operation.

        1. If there is an engine surge or stall and EGT is above usual, do the steps which follow.

        2. Quickly and immediately move the thrust lever to IDLE.

        3. Select the FUEL OFF mode.

        4. When N2 RPM decreases below 1495 RPM (10% N2), engage the starter.

        5. Motor the engine on starter (above 2500 N2 RPM) until EGT decreases below 482 deg F (250 deg C) or for two minutes, whichever is reached first.

        6. Before you start the engine, refer to procedure for a Bowed Rotor Start Prevention after a Emergency Shutdown. Refer to TASK 71-00-00-700-065-B00 (TESTING-000, CONFIG-002).

        7. Examine the inlet, exhaust, and bleeds for unwanted material.

        8. Start the engine again by the instructions in Procedure For an Emergency Shutdown. Refer to TASK 71-00-00-700-059-B00 (TESTING-000, CONFIG-002).

        1. If there is an engine surge or stall where the EGT increases quickly, the rotor speeds decrease suddenly, and the engine operation will not follow thrust lever movement, do the steps which follow.

        2. Move the thrust lever to IDLE.

        3. Select the FUEL OFF mode.

        4. Examine the inlet, exhaust and bleeds for unwanted material.

        5. Before you start the engine again, refer to procedure for a Bowed Rotor Start Prevention after an Emergency Shutdown. Refer to TASK 71-00-00-700-065-B00 (TESTING-000, CONFIG-002).
