Refer to Figure.
Remove the safety wire, two screws, and the clamp bar. Carefully push the bush rearwards and remove only the cable tie(s) if necessary to do this repair.
Remove the clamp bar, move back the bush and cable tie(s) adjacent to the electrical connector or receptacle.
SUBTASK 71-51-41-360-007 Prepare the Harness Adjacent to the Electrical Connector or Receptacle
Refer to Figure.
Install the electrical connector assembly to the IAE 3J12704 Wrench and holder or equivalent, 1 off. Disconnect the backshell nut and move it along the cables.
Remove the backshell nut.
SUBTASK 71-51-41-360-008 Remove the Backshell Nut from the Backshell
NOTE
Make a mark on the backshell to show the position of the key-way.Wrap the tape around wires in place of backshell welded point. The minimum number of wrapped layers should be five. More layers are desirable. Note to allow sufficient gap between harness outer diameter and backshell inner diameter for backshell reassembling without damaging or moving the tape.
SUBTASK 71-51-41-360-009 Applying the Tape
NOTE
The wires must be dry before starting the task. If the wires are damp, use the cloth to wipe it. If any reparable damage found on harness - it has to be repair first.Refer to Figure.
Install the electrical connector or receptacle assembly to the IAE 3J12704 Wrench and holder or equivalent, 1 off. Attach the backshell to the electrical connector or receptacle and tighten the nut by hand. Tighten the backshell nut through 90 degrees with the IAE 3J12704 Wrench and holder.
Install the backshell.
Put the screen tails equally around the split ring cone surface and through the ID of the upper ring and washer. Attach and tighten the backshell nut so the different parts hold the screen braid tails. Trim the tails and shrink the sleeve over them.
Install the other backshell parts.
SUBTASK 71-51-41-360-101 Install the Backshell to the Electrical Connector or Receptacle
NOTE
Make sure the key-way of the connector or receptacle aligns with the marks you made on the backshell.Push the bush forward so it packs the cables at the forward clamp bars. Attach the clamp bars together with the two screws, tighten the screws.
Install the cable ties, bush, and clamp bar adjacent to the electrical connector or receptacle.
Safety the backshell, nuts, and screws with CoMat 02-146 LOCKWIRE.
Safety the parts.
SUBTASK 71-51-41-360-011 Finish the Harness Adjacent to the Electrical Connector or Receptacle
Use a permanent marker.
Make a mark VRS9907/A on the identification sleeve of the harness adjacent to the part number.
