Description

  1. TASK 70-22-05-220-501-001 Skim Machine Or Grind Repair Of A Rotating Or Static Part Surface

    NOTE

This procedure can only be used on features that have no previous coating or plating applied.
    1. General

      1. Whenever the Engine Manual lets a rotating or static part surface be restored by plasma or plating, and it is not necessary to do more than skim machine or grind the surface to get a satisfactory final dimension (one that has satisfied finish repair limits), it is not necessary to apply the plasma or plating. All machining or grinding must be applicable to the alloy to prevent damage or surface defects that abusive practices can cause. Refer to SPM TASK 70-32-06-320-501.

      2. This skim machining or grinding must not exceed the dimension permitted by the plasma or plating repair and the final configuration must agree with the surface finish and positional requirements specified by the repair.

      3. After machining or grinding, the fillet radii must be smooth, continuous, and step-free.

      4. Apply surface treatment by SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503 for aluminum parts to agree with the approved requirements.

      5. It is necessary to do an inspection of all repaired hardware before you put the part(s) back into service. Results must agree with the Engine Manual requirements.
