SUBTASK 70-33-08-100-002 Cleaning Solution
Each 264 gal (1000 l) of nitric acid/hydrofluoric acid solution is made-up from 161 gal (610 l) of CoMat 01-262 NITRIC ACID, or 121.5 gal (460 l) of CoMat 01-263 NITRIC ACID, and 8 gal (30 l) of CoMat 01-199 ACID ADDITION AGENT, or CoMat 01-200 ACID ADDITION AGENT, in CoMat 01-201 DISTILLED, DEIONIZED, DEMINERALIZED, OR REVERSE OSMOSIS (RO) WATER.
Basic Composition.
General.
The nitric acid/hydrofluoric acid solution is used to etch aluminum components prior to the Zincate treatment. The nitric acid/hydrofluoric acid solution must be used in a suitable tank which must have agitation and extraction facilities. A Glass Fibre Reinforced Plastic container lined with PVC is recommended, but the chemical supplier will be able to provide more specific advice.
SUBTASK 70-33-08-100-003 Nitric Acid/Hydrofluoric Acid Solution (HNO3/HF)
The zincate process is a treatment for aluminum and its alloys which allows electroless nickel to be plated directly on them. A Polypropylene, or a PVC lined mild steel, or a suitable container recommended by the chemical supplier. The process tank must be fitted with heating and extraction facilities is required for the process.
General.
For control procedure for Zincate solution refer to SUBTASK 70-33-08-200-007.
Make-up of Zincate solution.
Make-up the CoMat 01-544 ZINCATE SOLUTION, in line with the manufacturer's instructions.
SUBTASK 70-33-08-100-004 Zincate Solution (CoMat 01-544)
The nitric acid solution is used to remove surface smut or the zincate coating. The nitric acid solution must be used in an acid resistant steel container, or a Glass Fibre Reinforced Plastic container lined with PVC. The tank must be have heating, agitation and extraction facilities.
Each 264 gal (1000 l) of nitric acid solution is made up from 211 gal (800 l) of CoMat 01-262 NITRIC ACID, or 158 gal (600 l) of CoMat 01-263 NITRIC ACID, in CoMat 01-201 DISTILLED, DEIONIZED, DEMINERALIZED, OR REVERSE OSMOSIS (RO) WATER.
Basic Composition.
General.
SUBTASK 70-33-08-100-005 Nitric Acid Solution (HNO3)
CoMat 01-545 ELECTROLESS NICKEL PLATINGSOLUTION or CoMat 03-230 PLATING MATERIAL are used for electroless nickel plating. For satisfactory operation, electroless nickel plating must be done in a polypropylene container, or a passivated stainless steel container, or a high grade steel container with anodic tank protection. The container must be fitted with agitation, filtration, heating and extraction facilities.
NOTE
This subtask applies to the make-up of all electroless nickel solutions other than electroless nickel Solution Code 86 and Solution Code 155.NOTE
Filtration of electroless nickel solutions is essential for satisfactory working of the process.General.
Make-up the CoMat 01-545 ELECTROLESS NICKEL PLATINGSOLUTION or CoMat 03-230 PLATING MATERIAL, in line with the manufacturer's instructions.
For control procedure for electroless nickel solution refer to SUBTASK 70-33-08-200-006.
