These solutions are aqueous and contain 1 percent by volume of either CoMat 01-219 ACID ADDITION AGENT or CoMat 01-563 WETTING AGENT.
Control the solution as specified in SPM TASK 70-38-02-200-502, SUBTASK 70-38-02-180-001.
SUBTASK 70-38-02-160-001 Acid Addition Agent CoMat 01-219 or Wetting Agent CoMat 01-563 Solutions
The solution is aqueous and contains 3.67 lb/gal (440 g/l) of CoMat 01-016 PHOSPHORIC ACID H3PO4. The solution is made up by adding 330 ml of CoMat 01-016 PHOSPHORIC ACID H3PO4 (specific gravity 1.65) to 670 ml of water.
Control the solution as specified in SPM TASK 70-38-02-200-502, SUBTASK 70-38-02-180-002.
SUBTASK 70-38-02-160-002 Phosphoric Acid Solution CoMat 01-016
Mix equal volumes of Part A and Part B of CoMat 07-023 CHROMATE CONVERSION COATING FOR ALUMINUM, BRUSH TYPE in a polythene container. Use the mixture immediately and discard all solution not used.
NOTE
The performance of brushing conversion solution CoMat 07-023 CHROMATE CONVERSION COATING FOR ALUMINUM, BRUSH TYPE becomes unsatisfactory if you keep the solution in storage.
SUBTASK 70-38-02-160-003-001 Make-up of Brushing Conversion Solution CoMat 07-023
Make up the CoMat 07-109 CHROMATE CONVERSION COATING FOR ALUMINUM, BRUSH TYPE to the manufacturer's instructions in a polythene container. Use polythene containers for storage of the solution.
Control the solution as specified in SPM TASK 70-38-02-200-502, SUBTASK 70-38-02-180-003.
Alternatively, it is permitted to purchase the solution ready to use from the manufacturer.

Make up and control the CoMat 07-165 CHROMATE CONVERSION COATING to the manufacturer's instructions.
SUBTASK 70-38-02-160-003-003 Make-up of Brushing Conversion Solution CoMat 07-165
Add 1.06 oz.wt (30 g) of the CoMat 02-136 CHROMATE CONVERSION SALT to approximately 500 ml of CoMat 01-201 DISTILLED, DEIONIZED, DEMINERALIZED, OR REVERSE OSMOSIS (RO) WATER. Stir to dissolve. Add 0.02 fl.oz (0.528 ml) of CoMat 02-137 WETTING AGENT. Mix the solutions then add CoMat 01-201 DISTILLED, DEIONIZED, DEMINERALIZED, OR REVERSE OSMOSIS (RO) WATER to make the volume 1 liter.

SUBTASK 70-38-02-160-003-004 Make-up of Brushing Conversion Solution CoMat 02-136
This is an aqueous solution that has a nominal concentration of 2 oz.wt/gal (15 g/l) CoMat 01-275 CHROMATE CONVERSION COATING FOR ALUMINUM CoMat 01-275 CHROMATE CONVERSION COATING FOR ALUMINIUM.
For each gallon of solution, dissolve 2 oz.wt of CoMat 01-275 CHROMATE CONVERSION COATING FOR ALUMINIUM in approximately 0.125 gal (0.473 l) of water and then add this solution to approximately 0.75 gal (2.83 l) of water. Fully mix the solution and then add sufficient water to increase the solution volume to 1 gal (3 l).
For each liter of solution, dissolve 15 g of CoMat 01-275 CHROMATE CONVERSION COATING FOR ALUMINIUM in approximately 0.125 liters of water and then add this solution to approximately 0.75 liters of water. Fully mix the solution and then add sufficient water to increase the solution volume to 1 liter.

SUBTASK 70-38-02-160-004-005 Make-up of Immersion Conversion Solution CoMat 02-136
This is an aqueous solution that contains 0.87 oz/gal to 1.27 oz/gal (6.5 g/l to 9.5 g/l) of CoMat 07-029 CHROMATE CONVERSION COATING FOR ALUMINUM, IMMERSION TYPE.
Make up the solution in a polythene or stainless steel tank. Add CoMat 01-025 NITRIC ACID HNO3, TECHNICAL GRADE to a new bath to bring the pH to between 1.9 and 2.1. The necessary amount of CoMat 01-025 NITRIC ACID HNO3, TECHNICAL GRADE to adjust the pH is approximately 800 ml of CoMat 01-025 NITRIC ACID HNO3, TECHNICAL GRADE for each 100 l of solution. Let the new solution stabilize at ambient temperature to let the pH decrease to its usual operating range of 1.5 to 2.0. Operate the solution at a temperature between 90 deg F (32 deg C) and 95 deg F (35 deg C).
