General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants, refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.

For standard torque data and procedures refer to the SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501.

Special torque data and assembly tolerances are included in this procedure.

Lubricate all threads and abutment faces of nuts and bolts and engine mount pins with CoMat 10-078 ANTISEIZE COMPOUND, unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.

Transportation covers/blanks must be removed immediately before the installation of the components.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 71-00-02-450-002 Attach the Forward Engine Mount Sling and Mounting Plate

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Attach the IAE 1N20014 Forward engine mount sling 1 off to a hoist and hang the sling above the forward engine mount.

    3. Remove the four nuts and two washers from the sling mounting plate bolts.

    4. Insert the four bolts of the sling mounting plate through the side holes of the forward engine mount and put the sling mounting plate on the forward engine mount so the two locating pins hold it straight.

    5. Attach the sling mounting plate to the engine mount with two washers on the two rear bolts and the four nuts. Tighten the bolts.

    6. Raise the hoist and move the forward engine mount in place over the engine.

    2. SUBTASK 71-00-02-450-003 Install the Forward Engine Mount (SBN 71-0135)

    1. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

    2. Apply CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS to the threads of the six bolts Front Mount Support Assembly And Mount Brackets (71-21-12, 01-080).

    3. Install the six bolts Front Mount Support Assembly And Mount Brackets (71-21-12, 01-080) and the six washers Front Mount Support Assembly And Mount Brackets (71-21-12, 01-090) that attach the forward engine mount Front Mount Support Assembly And Mount Brackets (71-21-12, 01-010) to the engine mount tube.

    4. Torque all the bolts to 500 to 550 lbf.in (56.5 to 62.2 Nm).

    5. Install the CoMat 02-156 LOCKWIRE on the six bolts.

    6. Install the pins Front Mount Support Assembly And Mount Brackets (71-21-12, 01-070) to attach the sway link assemblies Front Mount Support Assembly And Mount Brackets (71-21-12, 01-270) and Front Mount Support Assembly And Mount Brackets (71-21-12, 01-300) to the bracket.

    7. Install the retainers Front Mount Support Assembly And Mount Brackets (71-21-12, 01-060) through the ends of the pins Front Mount Support Assembly And Mount Brackets (71-21-12, 01-070).

      Install the bolts Front Mount Support Assembly And Mount Brackets (71-21-12, 01-050), the nuts Front Mount Support Assembly And Mount Brackets (71-21-12, 01-020), the washers Front Mount Support Assembly And Mount Brackets (71-21-12, 01-030) and the washers V2500-A5-72-21-12-01A-941A-D (72-21-12, 01-040) (under the bolt heads) that attach the retainers V2500-A5-72-21-12-01A-941A-D (72-21-12, 01-060) to the engine.

    9. Torque all the nuts to 20 to 25 lbf.in (2.3 to 2.8 Nm).

    3. SUBTASK 71-00-02-450-004 Remove the Forward Engine Mount Sling and Mounting Plate

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the four bolts, the nuts and the two washers which attach the sling mounting plate to the forward engine mount.

    3. Remove the IAE 1N20014 Forward engine mount sling and mounting plate from the engine mount.

    4. Replace the bolts, the washers and the nuts on the sling for storage.
