Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-00-050-058 Disconnect the PS3 Cooling Air Tubes

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Remove the lockwire from the tube nuts at both ends of the tubes.

    4. Disconnect the tube nuts at the valve end with the IAE 1R18003 Wrench 1 off.

    5. Disconnect the tube nuts at the diffuser case adapter with the IAE 1R18001 Wrench 1 off.

    6. NOTE

Complete removal of the PS3 cooling air tubes is not necessary to do the boroscope inspection procedure.

Disconnect the clips from the brackets, but do not remove them from the tubes.

    7. Move the cooling air tubes so that you can do a boroscope inspection through the diffuser case adapter.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-00-220-095 Do a Boroscope Inspection through the Diffuser Case Adapters

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Do a boroscope inspection of the No. 4 bearing scavenge tube heatshield with a Flexible boroscope (6 or 8 mm) 1 off.

      2. Examine (from each side) the visible area of the No. 4 bearing scavenge tube heatshield for cracks and material which is gone.

      3. Reject the part if there are cracks or if there is material which is gone from the heatshield.

      1. Do a boroscope inspection of the area that is outside the front No.4 bearing compartment with a Flexible boroscope (6 or 8 mm) 1 off.

      2. Examine the area for oil leakage, fire, cracks and damage to the compartment heatshield.

      3. Reject the part is there are signs of oil leakage, fire, mechanical damage or overheating. Reject the part if there are cracks or damage to the compartment heatshield.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-00-450-057 Connect the PS3 Cooling Air Tubes

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Attach the tubes to the diffuser case adapter and the stage 10 to HP turbine air valve.

    4. Connect all the clips with nuts (if applicable), bolts and washers. Torque the bolts to 36 to 45 lbf.in (4 to 5 Nm).

    5. Use the IAE 1R18003 Wrench 1 off to torque the tubes nuts at the stage 10 to HP turbine air valve to 566 to 611 lbf.in (64 to 69 Nm).

    6. Use the IAE 1R18001 Wrench 1 off to torque the tube nuts at the diffuser case adapter to 398 to 434 lbf.in (45 to 49 Nm).

    7. Safety the tube nuts with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
