Common Information

TASK 72-00-32-050-021 LPC/Intermediate Case Module Components - Remove The Fuel Filter Differential Pressure Switch, Removal-028

General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.

Apply the approved penetrating oil before the removal of threaded parts and parts with an interference fit. Let the parts soak before removal. For the approved oils and procedures, refer to the SPM TASK 70-64-00-640-501.

Remove and discard the lockwire before the component is disconnected.

During the removal procedure make sure that the harnesses are held temporarily along their different lengths. This is to prevent too much strain on the harnesses, cables and electrical connectors.

During the removal procedure put the special plastic caps on the electrical connectors and receptacles. This is to give protection from unwanted fluids or materials.

Seal all openings when the tubes or components are disconnected to prevent contamination from unwanted material.

NOTE

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-32-050-059 Remove the Fuel Filter Differential Pressure Switch (73-34-15,01-010)

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Drain the fuel from the FCOC.

      2. Put the clean container for drained fuel under the fuel drain on the FCOC.

      3. Remove the fuel drain plug (do not cut the wire which safeties the fuel plug to the cap assembly). Let the fuel drain into the container. Discard the sealing ring.

      4. Lubricate a new Fuel Cooled Oil Cooler (FCOC) (79-21-43, 01-149) sealing ring 1 off with CoMat 10-038 PETROLEUM JELLY or CoMat 10-060 LIQUID PARAFFIN.

      5. Install the sealing ring and fuel drain plug in the fuel plug. Torque the drain plug to 110 to 120 lbf.in (12.4 to 13.5 Nm).

      6. Safety the drain plug with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.

      1. Remove the pressure switch.

      2. Disconnect the electrical connector 4000EL-A from the pressure switch receptacle.

      3. Attach the electrical connector/harness to the primary harness bundle (so the disconnected harness does not bend) with CoMat 06-086 TIES.

      4. NOTE

The fuel filter differential pressure switch removed in this procedure must have its maintenance completed, as given in the Eaton (C.C.C.) Component Maintenance Manual (73-34-15).

Remove the four bolts which attach the pressure switch to the FCOC. Remove the switch. Discard the two packings.
