General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Apply the approved pentrating oil before the removal of the threaded parts. Let the parts soak before removal. For the approved oils and procedures, refer to TASK 70-64-00-640-501.

Discard all rubber seal rings, cotter pins and seal washers removed in this procedure.

Remove and discard the lockwire before parts are disconnected or removed.

Transportation covers/blanks must be installed immediately after the removal of the components.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-50-050-057 Remove the EGT Thermocouples

    2. NOTE

      The EGT thermocouples are installed through the vanes numbered 3, 6, 8 and 11, of the turbine exhaust case.

      Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the harness ends from the thermocouple.

      2. Release the four nuts that attach the harness to the thermocouple connection.

      3. Remove the four nuts and washers.

      4. Remove the harness ends from the thermocouple.

      5. Install the nuts and the washers on the terminals.

    3. Cut and discard the wire. Release and remove the two bolts that attach the thermocouple to the boss on the exhaust case. Remove the thermocouple from the exhaust case.

    4. Do Step and Step again for the other three EGT thermocouples.

    5. Install the cups to all exposed apertures.
