TASK 72-00-50-450-001 LPT Module Components - Install The Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Thermocouple, Installation-010
General
Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.
For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.
For standard torque data and procedure refer to the SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501 and SPM TASK 70-41-02-400-501.
Special torque data and assembly tolerances are included in the procedure.
Lubricate all threads and abutment face of the nuts and bolts with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS, unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.
To identify, lubricate and install seal rings refer to SPM TASK 70-44-01-400-501.
After assembly apply CoMat 07-012 AIR DRYING ENAMEL to any damaged surface protection, joint flanges and attach parts. Use the correct color of air drying enamel. Refer to SPM TASK 70-38-06-380-501 .
The number for each radial location must be identified in a clockwise direction. These start at the engine top position when you look from the rear of the engine, unless stated differently in the procedure.
Transportation covers/blanks must be removed immediately before the installation of the component.

NOTE
The EGT thermocouples are installed through the vanes numbers 3, 6, 8 and 11 of the turbine exhaust case.Refer to Figure.
Install the two new V2500-A5-77-21-15-01A-941A-D (77-21-15, 01-140) piston rings 8 off, into the outer diameter groove of the thermocouple. Make sure that the opening in each of the rings are in opposite positions.
Install the V2500-A5-77-21-15-01A-941A-D (77-21-15, 01-100) thermocouple into the case. Align the bolt holes in the thermocouple with the bolt holes on the case boss.
Install the two V2500-A5-77-21-15-01A-941A-D (77-21-15, 01-120) bolts.

CAUTION
MAKE SURE THE SAFETY WIRE DOES NOT TOUCH THE THERMOCOUPLE STUDS OR THE EGT HARNESS LEADS. THIS CAN CAUSE ERRATIC OR UNRELIABLE EGT INDICATION.Safety the bolts with CoMat 02-141 LOCKWIRE.

CAUTION
DO NOT USE LUBRICATION ON THE THREADS OF THE THERMOCOUPLE CONNECTIONS. ENGINE OIL CAN CONTAMINATE THE EGT HARNESS INSULATION MATERIAL AND RESULT IN ERRATIC OR UNRELIABLE EGT INDICATION.
CAUTION
DO NOT TIGHTEN THE NUTS MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM TORQUE. TOO MUCH TORQUE CAN DAMAGE THE THERMOCOUPLE STUDS AND RESULT IN ERRATIC OR UNRELIABLE EGT INDICATION.Torque the alumel connection (larger stud) to between 18 and 22 lbfin (2.034 and 2.486 Nm).

CAUTION
DO NOT USE LUBRICATION ON THE THREADS OF THE THERMOCOUPLE CONNECTIONS. ENGINE OIL CAN CONTAMINATE THE EGT HARNESS INSULATION MATERIAL AND RESULT IN ERRATIC OR UNRELIABLE EGT INDICATION.
CAUTION
DO NOT TIGHTEN THE NUTS MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM TORQUE. TOO MUCH TORQUE CAN DAMAGE THE THERMOCOUPLE STUDS AND RESULT IN ERRATIC OR UNRELIABLE EGT INDICATION.Torque the chromel connection (smaller stud) to between 15 and 18 lbfin (1.695 and 2.034 Nm).
SUBTASK 72-00-50-420-179-A00 V2500-A1 Install the EGT Thermocouples
NOTE
The EGT thermocouples are installed through the vanes numbers 3, 6, 8 and 11 of the turbine exhaust case.Refer to Figure.
Install the two new ENGINE INDICATING-EGT THERMOCOUPLE(77-21-15,20-140) metal seal rings 8 off, into the outer diameter groove of the thermocouple. Make sure that the opening in each of the rings are in opposite positions.
Install the ENGINE INDICATING-EGT THERMOCOUPLE (77-21-15, 20-100) thermocouple into the case. Align the bolt holes in the thermocouple with the bolt holes on the case boss.
Install the two ENGINE INDICATING-EGT THERMOCOUPLE (77-21-15, 20-120) bolts.

CAUTION
