TASK 72-31-11-820-001 LPC Fan Blade - Moment Weigh

General

This TASK gives the procedure to measure the moment weight of the fan blade.

The moment weight of the fan blade contains three components, which are radial component, axial component and tangential component.

Refer to Figure.

The radial component of the blade moment weight is the product of the blade weight and the radius its center of gravity (C.G.) from the engine center line. The axial component is the product of the blade weight and the axial distance of the blade C.G. from radial datum. The tangential component is the product of the blade weight and the tangential distance of the blade C.G. from the radial datum.

For standard torque data and procedures, refer to the SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501 and SPM TASK 70-41-02-400-501.

For the operation of the moment weighing machine, refer to the manufacturers instructions.

NOTE

To identify the consumable materials, refer to the PCI.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-31-11-820-001 Find the Moment Weight Values of the Calibration Master Blade

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

    3. Find the values of the moment weight marked on the IAE 1R18731 Calibration master blade 1 off.

    4. Write the values of the radial component, the axial component and the tangential component of the moment weight as "RM", "AM" and "TM" in Table 3.

    1. SUBTASK 72-31-11-820-002 Prepare the Tools for Measurement of the Blades

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Attach the IAE 1R19801 Moment weigh adaptor 1 off to the top plate of the moment weighing machine with the four screws and washers (part of the moment weigh adaptor).

    4. Tighten the screws.

    1. SUBTASK 72-31-11-820-003 Install the Calibration Master Blade

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Install the IAE 1R18731 Calibration master blade to the moment weigh adaptor.

      2. Put the calibration master blade in the slot of the dovetail clamp (part of the moment weigh adaptor).

      3. Move the calibration master blade until it touches the stopper plate (part of the moment weigh adaptor).

      1. Pressurize the clamp cylinder.

      2. Connect the hydraulic supply unit to the coupler (part of the moment weigh adaptor).

      3. Open the stop valve (part of the moment weigh adaptor).

      4. Pressurize the clamp cylinder to 3500 psi (24133 kPa) using a hand pump.

      5. Close the stop valve to keep the oil pressure in the clamp cylinder.

      6. Release the oil pressure between the stop valve and hydraulic supply unit.

      7. Disconnect the hydraulic supply unit from the coupler.

    1. SUBTASK 72-31-11-820-004 Measure the Moment Weight of the Moment Weigh Adaptor and Calibration Master Blade Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Turn the index plate to install the plunger at 0 degree position.

      2. Remove the plunger (part of the moment weigh adaptor) from the index plate (part of the moment weigh adaptor).

      3. Install the handle (part of the moment weigh adaptor) in to the index plate.

      4. Turn the index plate and align the plunger with the hole C in the housing (part of the moment weigh adaptor) at 0 degree position and make sure that the end of the plunger is automatically installed in the hole C of the housing.

      5. Remove the handle from the turn plate.

    3. Moment weigh the moment weigh adaptor and calibration master blade assembly. Write the measured values in Table 1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Turn the index plate to install the plunger at 90, 180 and 270 degree positions. Moment weigh the assembly at each position and write the measured values in Table 1.

      2. Do steps B. and C. at each position.

    1. SUBTASK 72-31-11-820-005 Remove the Calibration Master Blade

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Open the stop valve to release the oil pressure in the clamp cylinder.

    4. Remove the calibration master blade from the dovetail camp.

    1. SUBTASK 72-31-11-820-007 Measure the Moment Weight of the Moment Weigh Adaptor and Fan Blade Assembly

    2. Refer to Fig. 72-31-11-990-11-001 and Figure.

    3. Do Step to install the fan blade to the moment weigh adaptor.

    4. Do Step to measure the moment weight at 0, 90, 180 and 270 degree positions and write the values in Table 2.

    5. Do Step to remove the fan blade from the moment weigh adaptor.

    1. SUBTASK 72-31-11-820-009 Calculate the Moment Weight Values of the Fan Blade

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    3. Calculate the radial component, the axial component and the tangential component of the moment weight with Table 4.

    4. Write the values of the three components as "RB", "AB" and "TB" in Table 4.

    1. SUBTASK 72-31-11-820-010 Make Marks of the Moment Weights Values on the Fan Blade

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

    3. Read the radial component value (RB), the axial component value (AB), and the tangential component value (TB) of the moment weight in Table 4.

    4. Cancel the existing marks of the moment weights values on the fan blade.

    5. Use a vibro-peen and make marks of the three values of the moment weights. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501.
