Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-51-324-055 Machine the Worn Snap Diameter

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Attach the seal runner on the grinding machine, set the seal runner to run true.

      2. Use grinding machine.

      1. Grind the snap diameter to between 10.4055 in (264.3 mm) and 10.394 in. (264.00 mm).

      2. Hold the diameter to a minimum to allow for subsequent repairs. However, any previous coating and damage must be removed.

      1. Visually examine the machined area.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-21-01-220-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-51-230-059 Examine the Seal Runner for Cracks

      1. Do a crack test.

        1. Cracks are not permitted.

        2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-51-120-052 Abrasive Blast the Seal Runner

      1. Mask off areas that are not to be plasma sprayed.

      1. Abrasive blast seal runner surface to be plasma sprayed.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-51-340-052 Apply Metal Plasma on the Snap Diameter

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Touch up masking if necessary.

      1. Apply plasma spray. Maximum diameter of 10.376 in. (263.55 mm) is required after plasma spraying.

      1. Grind the plasma sprayed snap diameter to between 10.3879 in. (263.852 mm) and 10.3859 in. (263.800 mm) with 63 microinches (1.6 micrometers) surface finish.
