Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-055 Remove the Insert of the LPC Bleed Duct

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Make a hole not more than 0.252 in. (6.4 mm) deep in the insert.

      2. Use 0.2812 in. (7.14 mm) diameter drill.

    3. Bend the keys inward and remove them.

      1. Remove the insert.

      2. Use a extracting tool.

      1. Clean the hole.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-220-058 Examine the Thread of the Insert Hole

      1. Examine the thread.

        1. Use a 10X magnifying glass.

        2. No damage is permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-380-053 Surface Treat the Insert Hole

      1. Apply a thin even coat of primer to the thread hole to receive the insert.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-350-056 Install the Insert

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Install the insert.

      2. Turn the insert into the threaded hole until step is 0.01 in. (0.25 mm) to 0.03 in. (0.76 mm) below machined surface.

      1. CAUTION

        DO NOT DRIVE THE KEYS TO THE SAME POSITION INSTALLED BEFORE. IF YOU USE THE SAME POSITION, KEYS MAY BE LOOSE AND IT CAUSES LPC BLEED DUCT TO BE DAMAGED.

        Install the key.

        1. Drive the key into the keyway of the insert until flush with components surface.

        2. Use punch and hammer.

      1. Do a check on the torque of the inserts.

        1. Use the torque check plug.

        2. Inserts below the torque 3.5 lbfin (0.40 Nm) must be rejected.

        3. Inserts above the torque 30 lbfin (3.39 Nm) must be rejected.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-60-220-059 Examine the Installed Insert

      1. Visually examine the inserts and repaired area.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-21-01-220-501.
