Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-73-320-051 Machine the Worn Pin Hole(s)

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Set a rotary table onto the horizontal boring machine.

      1. Put the machining fixture onto the boring machine.

      1. Set the machining fixture by plane A and dia B given in figure.

      2. Use dial set indicator.

      3. Make sure the datum A and B are set to turn correctly.

    3. Install and clamp the synchronize ring into the machining fixture.

    4. Find the hole C and adjust the zero degree of the rotary table to the center of hole C.

    5. Measure and make sure location of the pin holes C, D and AD on the synchronize ring.

      1. NOTE

        If damaged pin hole can not clean up to give the necessary finish on the diameter, it must be machined to the next oversize in accordance with table 1, 2 and 3.

        Machine the worn pin hole(s) oversize as necessary.

    6. Make chamfer on the outside edge of the machined pin hole(s).

    7. Remove the synchronize ring from the machining fixture.

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Measure the dimension of the machined pin hole(s).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-73-230-052 Examine the Machined Pin Hole(s) of the Synchronize Ring Assembly for Cracks

      1. Do a penetrant crack test on the machined pin hole(s).

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-02-230-501.

      3. Use penetrant crack test equipment.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-73-380-052 Apply the Chromate Conversion Coating to the Synchronize Ring Assembly

      1. Apply the chromate conversion coating to the machined pin hole(s).

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503, SUBTASK 70-38-02-300-002.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-73-350-054 Identify the Repair

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Make a mark adjacent to the part number.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501, SUBTASK 70-09-00-400-001.

      1. Make a mark suffix letter on the machined pin hole(s) (oversize).

        1. Refer to TASK 70-09-00-400-801, SUBTASK 70-09-00-400-001.

      1. Apply the chromate conversion coating to the marked letter.

      2. Refer to step 7. SUBTASK 72-32-73-280-052.
