The damaged nut can be replaced using one of the two procedures defined in Step or Step.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-76-350-063-001 Replace the Damaged Nut

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the damaged nut.

      2. The nut is removed by tapping the end.

      1. Examine the surface.

        1. Visually examine the surface for cracks.

        2. No cracks are permitted.

        3. Use 10X magnifying glass.

      1. Prepare the mating surfaces to be bonded.

      2. Remove the previous adhesive with files, if necessary.

      1. CAUTION

        DO NOT EXCEED 302 DEG F (150 DEG C) MAXIMUM.

        NOTE

        1. Make sure the full cure time is used, and correct temperature maintained.

        Apply the adhesive and place the nut in position and cure.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-36-02-360-501.

        2. Cure at 250 deg F (120 deg C) for 40 minutes.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-76-350-063-002 Replace the Damaged Nut

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the damaged nut.

      2. The nut is removed by tapping the end.

      1. Examine the surface.

        1. Visually examine the surface for cracks.

        2. No cracks are permitted.

        3. Use 10X magnifying glass.

      1. Prepare the mating surfaces to be bonded.

      2. Remove the previous adhesive with files, if necessary.

      1. NOTE

        The minumum cure time is one hour, refer to SPM TASK 70-36-02-360-501. Make sure the full cure time is used, and correct temperature maintained.
        The adhesive will not cure at a temperature of less than 54 deg F (12 deg C).

        Apply the adhesive and place the nut in position and cure.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-76-220-101 Examine the Replaced Nut

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Do a visual inspection.

        1. Refer to TASK 72-32-76-200-000 (INSPECTION-000).

        2. The nuts must be installed flush to slightly below the surface of stator.
