Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-81-350-051 Dress to remove the Damage

      1. CAUTION

        TITANIUM COMPONENTS.
        SILICON CARBIDE TYPE WHEELS, STONES AND ABRASIVE PAPERS ARE TO BE USED FOR THIS REPAIR.
        ALUMINUM OXIDE TYPES MUST NOT BE USED.
        THE MATERIAL WILL OXIDIZE AND CRACK IF MECHANICAL CUTTERS ARE USED HEAVILY. THIS HAS OCCURRED IF THE COMPONENT SHOWS DARK STRAW TO BLUE DISCOLORATION. IF AT ANY TIME THIS COLORATION OCCURS THE DISK MUST BE REJECTED.

        Dress to remove the damage.

      2. Use portable grinding equipment.

      3. Dress until all the damage is removed.

      1. Blend the dressed area and polish out scores.

      2. Refer to Figure.

      3. Dressing limits (Figure).

      4. The disk has three knife edge seals, and each seal has two fins.

      5. One fin can be dressed for each seal.

      6. Dressed area for one fin must be less than 0.055 sqin (35.48 sqmm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-81-220-051 Examine the Disks

      1. Do a visual inspection.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-32-81-200-000 (INSPECTION-000).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-81-230-051 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do the penetrant crack test for the repaired area.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-04-230-501.

        2. Make sure there is no crack in repaired area.

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Vibro-engrave VRS1364 on the top surface of the dovetail.
