Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-00-350-052 Dress to Remove Damage

      1. CAUTION

        TITANIUM COMPONENTS.
        SILICON CARBIDE TYPE WHEELS, STONES AND ABRASIVE PAPERS ARE TO BE USED FOR THIS REPAIR.
        ALUMINUM OXIDE TYPES MUST NOT BE USED.
        THE MATERIAL WILL OXIDIZE AND CRACK IF MECHANICAL CUTTERS ARE USED HEAVILY. THIS HAS OCCURRED IF THE COMPONENT SHOWS DARK STRAW TO BLUE DISCOLORATION. IF AT ANY TIME THIS COLORATION OCCURS THE COMPONENT MUST BE REJECTED.

        Dress to remove damage.

      2. Use portable grinding equipment.

      3. Dress until all damage is removed.

      1. Blend dressed area and polish out scores.

      2. Maximum blend limit is 0.005 in. (0.12 mm) in depth.

      3. Refer to theSPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-00-220-120 Examine the Bracket

      1. Do a visual inspection on the bracket.

      2. Visually examine the repaired area for nicks, scratches and/or damage.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-00-230-058 Examine the Bracket for Cracks

      1. Fluorescent penetrant examine the repaired area.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-00-230-501.

      3. Make sure there are no cracks in the repaired area.
