Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-114 Remove the Spacers

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the worn spacers.

      2. Remove the spacers.

        Use a drift or locally made extractor.

      1. Remove the sharp edges around the location holes.

      2. Use hand methods.

      1. Clean the holes.

      2. Use a soft clean cloth and blast with air.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-220-270 Examine the Holes

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Visually examine and measure the dimensions of the location holes.

      2. Examine the interference on the diameter.

        Reject if the location hole is oversize.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-230-115 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

        Use penetrant crack test equipment.

        Cracks are not permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-115 Replace the Spacers

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Freeze the spacers.

      2. Use UP11144 spacer03-814 for part number 6A3388, UP60487 spacer, 03-814 for part number 6A4311 or UP60477 spacer 03-814 for part number 6A4326. Use UP11948 spacer 03-814 for part numbers 6A6511 and 6A6550.

      1. Install the spacers into the flange and make sure the spacers are pushed fully into position before the temperature of the spacers is equal to the flange.

      2. Use an applicable installation tool.

        Use heat protective gloves.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-220-271 Examine the Spacers

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Examine the spacers.

      2. Make sure the spacers are installed fully into and at 90 degrees to the flange.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-201 Identify the Repair

      1. Make a mark VRS6252 adjacent to the part number.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501, SUBTASK 70-09-00-400-001.

        Use vibro-engraving equipment.
