Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-134 Remove Loose or Damaged Spacers

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the loose or damaged spacers.

      2. Remove the spacers with a drift or locally made extractor and standard workshop equipment.

      1. Remove burrs around the location hole(s).

      2. Use standard workshop equipment.

      1. Clean the hole(s).

      2. Use a lint-free cloth and a dry air blow.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-220-348 Examine the H.P. Compressor Stage 10 Case Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Visually examine and measure the dimensions of the location hole(s).

      2. Use workshop inspection equipment.

        Reject if the location hole(s) is/are oversize.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-230-141 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a local penetrant crack test around the location hole(s).

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        Use CoMat 06-022 FLUORESCENT PENETRANT (POST-EMULSIFIED ULTRA HIGH SENSITIVITY) with penetrant crack test equipment. Cracks are not permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-135-A00 Install the Spacer(s) UP11144 Assembly A

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Freeze the spacer(s).

      2. Use spacer 04-364, 20 off as necessary. Use CoMat 03-026 LIQUID NITROGEN.

        Use a locally made freeze plug.

      1. Install the spacer(s) into the location holes(s).

      2. Make sure that the spacer is pushed fully into position before the temperature of the spacer and the case assembly become the same.

        Use heat protective gloves.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-135-B00 Install the Spacer(s) UP60487 Assembly B

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Freeze the spacer(s).

      2. Use spacer 04-364, 20 off as necessary. Use CoMat 03-026 LIQUID NITROGEN.

        Use a locally made freeze plug.

      1. Install the spacer(s) into the location holes(s).

      2. Make sure that the spacer is pushed fully into position before the temperature of the spacer and the case assembly become the same.

        Use heat protective gloves.

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Freeze the spacer(s).

      2. Use spacer 04-364, 20 off as necessary. Use CoMat 03-026 LIQUID NITROGEN.

      1. Install the spacer(s) into the location holes(s).

      2. Make sure that the spacer is pushed fully into position before the temperature of the spacer and the case assembly become the same.

        Use heat protective gloves.

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Freeze the spacer(s).

      2. Use UP11948 spacer, 04-364, 20 off as necessary. Use CoMat 03-026 LIQUID NITROGEN. Use a locally made freeze plug.

      1. Install the spacer(s) into the location hole(s).

      2. Make sure that the spacer is pushed fully into positiion before the temperature of the spacer and the case assembly become the same.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-136 Examine the HP Compressor Stage 10 Case Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Visually examine and measure the dimensions of the installed spacer(s).

      2. Make sure the spacer(s) are installed fully into and at 90 degrees to the flange.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-21-350-206 Identify the Repair

      1. Make a mark VRS6253 adjacent to the part number.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501, SUBTASK 70-09-00-400-001.

        Use vibro-engraving equipment.
