Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-23-323-051-A00 Remove the Shank Nut(s), Assembly A

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Drill the flare until the nut is released.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-11-300-501.

      3. Use a drilling machine with an 0.315 in. (8.00 mm) diameter drill.

    3. Remove the nut.

      1. Remove the sharp edges around the nut location hole.

      1. Clean the nut location hole.

      2. Use a soft, clean cloth and remove part with air.

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Drill the flare until the nut is released.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-11-300-501.

      3. Use a drilling machine with a 0.315 in (8.00mm) diameter drill.

    3. Remove the nut.

      1. Remove the sharp edges around the nut location hole.

      1. Clean the nut location hole.

      2. Use a soft clean cloth and remove part with air.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-23-230-062 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test, in the area of repair.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

      3. Cracks are not permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-23-350-057-A00 Install the New Shank Nuts, Assembly A

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Install the new nut in the location hole.

      2. Use AS27857 nut self-locking shank, 02-510, as necessary.

      3. Make sure the shank nut is installed correctly.

      1. Hold the nut and swage the flare.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-23-350-057-B00 Install the New Shank Nuts, Assembly B

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Install the new nut into the location hole.

      2. Use AS27857 nut self locking shank, 02-510, as necessary.

      3. Make sure the shank nut is installed correctly.

      1. Hold the nut and swage the flare.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-23-230-063 Do a Crack Test

      1. Do a penetrant crack test, in the area of repair.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

      3. Cracks are not permitted.
