This Repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in TASK 72-41-31 Inspection/Check.

This Repair is to replace the helicoil insert(s) when they are broken, worn, cross threaded or missing.

The helicoil insert(s) to be replaced are 0.250 inch diameter, 28 threads per inch and 0.3125 inch diameter, 24 threads per inch, screw lock type.

    1. SUBTASK 72-41-31-350-091 Remove the Damaged Helicoil Insert(s)

      1. Remove the damaged helicoil insert(s).

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-08-300-501 SUBTASK 70-35-08-350-001.

        Use approved workshop equipment.

    2. SUBTASK 72-41-31-350-092-A00 Install the Helicoil Insert(s), Assembly A

      1. Install the helicoil insert(s).

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-08-300-501 SUBTASK 70-35-08-350-002.

        Use AGS3732 , 18 off and/or AGS3733 , 8 off, as necessary.

        Use approved workshop equipment.

    3. SUBTASK 72-41-31-350-092-B00 Install the Helicoil Insert(s), Assembly B

      1. Install the helicoil insert(s).

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-08-300-501 SUBTASK 70-35-08-350-002.

        Use AGS3732 , 16 off and/or AGS3733 , 8 off, as necessary.

        Use approved workshop equipment.

    4. SUBTASK 72-41-31-350-092-C00 Install the Helicoil Insert(s), Assembly C

      1. Install the helicoil insert(s).

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-08-300-501 SUBTASK 70-35-08-350-002.

        Use AGS3732 , 16 off and/or AGS3733 , 8 off, as necessary.

        Use approved workshop equipment.

    5. SUBTASK 72-41-31-220-213 Examine the Helicoil Insert(s)

      1. Examine the helicoil insert(s).
