Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-61-350-084-001 Unplug the Fuel Nozzle Guide Holes (for A1 engines)

      1. Unplug the fuel nozzle guide holes with a metal probe.

      2. Refer to Figure.

Use a metal probe that has a maximum diameter of 0.070 in. (1.778 mm) to remove unwanted material from the holes.

You can do this procedure from the hot side or the hood side.

      1. CAUTION

DO NOT REMOVE BASE MATERIAL WHEN YOU DRILL THE FUEL NOZZLE GUIDE HOLES THE HOLES MUST BE 0.071 TO 0.081 IN. (1.80 TO 2.06 MM) IN DIAMETER.

If the material is too hard to remove with a metal probe, use a drill to remove the unwanted material.

      2. Use a drill that has a maximum diameter of 0.070 in. (1.778 mm).

You can drill only from the hot side.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-61-350-084-002 Unplug the Fuel Nozzle Guide Holes (for A5 engines)

      1. Unplug the fuel nozzle guide holes with a metal probe.

      2. Refer to Fig Figure.

Use a metal probe that has a maximum diameter of 0.048in. (1.219 mm) to remove unwanted material from the holes.

You can do this procedure from the hot side or the hood side.

      1. CAUTION

DO NOT REMOVE BASE MATERIAL WHEN YOU DRILL THE FUEL NOZZLE GUIDE HOLES THE HOLES MUST BE 0.049 TO 0.055IN. (1.245 TO 1.397 MM) IN DIAMETER.

If the material is too hard to remove with a metal probe, use a drill to remove the unwanted material.

      2. Use a drill that has a maximum diameter of 0.048in. (1.219 mm).

You can drill only from the hot side.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-61-350-085 Unplug the Fuel Nozzle Guide Bulkhead Holes

      1. Unplug the fuel nozzle guide bulkhead holes with a metal probe.

      2. Refer to Fig Figure.

Use a metal probe that has a maximum diameter of 0.080in. (2.032 mm) to remove unwanted material from the holes. The probe must go into the hole approximately 0.500in. (12.7 mm).

You must do this procedure from the hood side only.

        NOTE

You cannot see the bulkhead hole from the hot side and it is not easy to see the bulkhead hole from the hood side, so you must not drill the bulkhead hole.
    1. SUBTASK 72-42-61-220-161 Examine the Repair

      1. Clean the area you have repaired.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-42-61-100-000 (CLEANING-000).

    2. Examine all the fuel nozzle guide holes and the fuel nozzle bulkhead holes to make sure you have removed the blockages.

      1. If there are guide holes that have unwanted material you cannot remove, replace the fuel nozzle guide.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-42-61-300-007, VRS3095 Repair 007, (REPAIR-007).
