General

This TASK gives the procedure to clean the Stage 1 HPT seal. For the other parts of the Stage 1 HPT support assembly, refer to TASK 72-44-10-100-000 (CLEANING-000).

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK numbers are in the SPM.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants, refer to the IPC.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-10-110-076 Remove the Grease and Oil

      1. Remove the grease and oil. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

      1. Degrease parts by aqueous cleaning.

    2. SUBTASK 72-44-10-110-077 Remove the Rust and Carbon

      1. Remove the rust and carbon. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-13-300-503.

      1. Cleaning of components (long soak, for cobalt and nickel base alloys and heat and non-corrosion resistant steels).
