Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-45-21-120-052 Remove the Scale and Rust (01-010)

      1. Remove the scale and rust.

    2. SUBTASK 72-45-21-350-053 Remove Damaged Clinch Nut

    1. Refer to: Figure

      2. Drill and remove flare of clinch nut until the flare twists.

      1. Use a 0.3125in. (7.94 mm) diameter drill.

      3. Remove clinch nut.

      1. Use a mallet and a punch.

      4. Remove sharp edges around nut location hole.

      5. Clean the nut location hole.

      1. Use a soft clean cloth and air blast.

    3. SUBTASK 72-45-21-220-051 Examine the Nut Location Hole (01-010)

      1. Visually examine the nut location hole.

      1. Use a X10 magnifying glass.

        If crack is seen, reject it.

    4. SUBTASK 72-45-21-350-054 Install New Clinch Nut (01-010)

    1. Refer to: Figure

    2. Fit new clinch nut into the location hole.

      NOTE

      Make sure that clinch nut is installed correctly.

      3. Hold the clinch nut in position and make flare.

      1. NOTE

        Make sure that clinch nut is installed satisfactorily.

    5. SUBTASK 72-45-21-220-052 Examine the Installed Clinch Nut (01-010)

      1. Examine the flare of clinch nut for cracks.

      1. Use a X10 magnifying glass.

      2. Examine the clinch nut and surrounding area for cracks.
