NONEProcedure
Keep material removal to the minimum to get balance within limits.
Do not remove material from a small number of areas. Remove material over a larger number, with less removal, to permit more rebalancing procedures.
Machine grind the inner air seal.
Use controlled machining technique (CMT) in a circumferential direction.
Use files for small material removal.
Edges must be rounded 0.008 to 0.020 in. (0,20 to 0,50 mm).
Use butterfly polishing.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-19-350-501.
Remove material to get balance within limits.
Use fine stones and CoMat 05-113 EMERY POLISHING PAPER to make the worked surface as smooth as the adjacent surface if necessary.
Edges are not permitted.
Polish the machined areas.
SUBTASK 72-50-00-350-005 General Instructions for the Rebalancing of the Stage 6 Inner Air Seal after Repair
NOTE
Use IAE 1M14236 Balancing fixture 1 off.
Align TOP marks.
Install the air seal in to one plane vertical balancing machine.
Use balancing by indexing method.
Initial unbalance must not be more than maximum 1.00 oz in. (720 gmm) when attached on diameter B and on plane A.
Remaining unbalance must not be more than maximum 0.10 oz in. (72 gmm).
Do the check for static unbalance of the air seal at 900 RPM minimum.
SUBTASK 72-50-00-350-006 Rebalance the Stage 6 Turbine Inner Air Seal
Do the crack test after material removal but before butterfly polishing to get optimal results.
Refer to SPM TASK 70-35-19-350-501 and SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.
Use ulta high sensitivity level.
No cracks are permitted.
Do the test for cracks.
72-50-00-230-003 Examine the Machined Areas for Cracks
NOTE
This is an optional procedure.Refer to Figure.
The surface finish of all machined areas must be as good as the adjacent areas.
Examine the surface finish.
Examine the machined areas dimensionally.
72-50-00-220-003 Do the Post Repair Inspection
