The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK number are in the SPM.

If required, before repair remove the clinch nuts, refer to VRS4318 TASK 72-50-24-300-037 (REPAIR-037).

After repair replace the clinch nuts, refer to VRS4318 TASK 72-50-24-300-037 (REPAIR-037).

If required, before repair remove the locating pin, refer to VRS4319 TASK 72-50-24-300-036 (REPAIR-036).

After repair replace the locating pin, refer to VRS4319 TASK 72-50-24-300-036 (REPAIR-036).

NOTE

For mroe equipment and materials necessary to do this repair, refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501 and SPM TASK 70-35-21-350-501.
Equivalent equipment may be used.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-24-350-079 Blend Repair the Inner Diffuser Support Assembly

      NOTE

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-21-350-501 for blending surface damage.

      2. For local blending use a length to depth ratio of 5:1 minimum, refer to Figure.

      3. Unless stated differently, there is no limit for the number of blends. If there is a number of damage marks close together, blend the whole area to the specified depth. Minimum distance between blends is 0.500 in. (12.7 mm).

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Blend repair in area A1.

      2. Maximum permitted depth of blend repair is 0.010 in. (0.25 mm).

      1. Blend repair in area 2.

      2. Dress to remove the raised material only.

      1. Blend repair holes, slots and locating pin.

      2. Dress to remove the raised material only.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-24-230-091 Examine the Blended Areas for Cracks

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        Use medium sensitivity level.

        No cracks are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-24-220-156 Do the Post Repair Inspection

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Examine the surface of the blended areas visually.

      2. The blended surface must be as smooth as the initial surface.

        Edges and corners are not permitted.

      1. Examine the blended areas dimensionally.

      2. The blend ratio must be in the limits.
