General

This TASK gives the procedure to clean the No.5 bearing seal spacers. For the other parts of the No. 5 bearing seal, refer to TASK 72-50-42-100-000 (CLEANING-000).

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK numbers are in the SPM.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-42-110-052-001 Remove Grease and Oil

      1. Remove grease and oil. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

      1. Degrease parts by aqueous cleaning.

    2. SUBTASK 72-50-42-110-058 Remove Rust and Carbon

      1. Remove rust and carbon. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-13-300-503.

      1. Cleaning of components (long soak, for cobalt and nickel base alloys and heat and non-corrosion resistant steels).
