Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-350-052 Blend the Damaged Surfaces

    2. Refer to: Figure

      1. Blend the damaged surfaces.

      2. Blend in a circumferential direction.

Do not blend along the axis when you blend a cylindrically shaped part.

For local blend use a length to depth ratio of 10:1.

The minimum distance between blends must be 0.5in. (12.7 mm).

When two or more damaged areas are near together, blend all the area to specified depth.

On the turbine exhaust case any general blend must not exceed a maximum depth of 0.024in. (0.6096 mm).

Put back surface texture to that of adjacent undamaged areas.

      1. Area A.

      2. In area A the maximum blend depth must not exceed 0.025in. (0.635 mm).

      1. Area B.

      2. In area B, strut leading and trailing edges, the maximum blend depth must not exceed 0.02in. (0.50 mm).

      1. Area C.

      2. Do not blend.

      1. Airfoil area.

      2. In airfoil area the maximum blend depth must not exceed 0.01in. (0.25 mm).

      1. Other areas.

      2. In other areas is permitted to blend nicks, dents and scratches.

Keep the removal of material to the minimum necessary to remove the damage.

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-230-053 Examine the Case

      1. Do the fluorescent penetrant inspection for cracks.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-02-230-501.

        No cracks are permitted.

      1. Drain the fluorescent penetrant from the struts.

      2. Repair, VRS3655 TASK 72-50-53-300-076 (REPAIR-076).

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-53-350-053 Blend the No. 5 Bearing Oil Service Tubes Flanges

    2. Refer to: Figure

      1. Blend the damaged surfaces.

      2. Blend in a circumferential direction.
